Jeff Gibboni is a Master’s level clinical counseling intern and proud native of south Jersey. He earned his undergraduate degree in History (‘97), and a graduate degree in education (criminal justice focus, ‘99) before beginning his pursuit of a Master of Arts in Clinical Counseling at Alvernia University (PA). He is on track to graduate in May 2026. Jeff is embarking on his second career, continuing to help others, transitioning to counseling after completing over 23 years in federal law enforcement. Throughout his law enforcement career, Jeff has been a peer supporter, trained in critical incident stress management (CISM), provided psychological first aid for several deaths in service, line of duty deaths, and officer involved shootings.
Both a consumer of therapy and aspiring clinician himself, Jeff has experienced both sides of the counseling relationship. Jeff knows firsthand that the therapeutic relationship provides the foundation to help others on their path to peace and lasting wellness. Jeff will work with you, shoulder to shoulder, being mindful of your personal search for mental well-being.
Through radical acceptance, empathy, discrete honesty, and a little humor Jeff will partner with you to meet your wellness needs. Done correctly, Jeff believes therapy is goal directed conversation in the service of authentic, lasting change.
Jeff has a passion for serving veterans and law enforcement officers and the people who love them. First responders often prioritize others to their own detriment and Jeff has personally experienced and witnessed caring professionals suffering in silence from PTSD, substance use disorder, divorce, and relationship difficulties.
Jeff also works with adults who are seeking support for anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, and general life stressors.
Jeff recognizes the practical, evidence-based value of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy (TF-CBT) as well as humanistic and existential modalities. These modalities explore the four universal concerns humans face; death, freedom,
isolation, and meaninglessness.
Outside of counseling, Jeff is an avid tattoo collector, reluctant vegan, and part-time “girl dad”. He is capable of having an informed discussion about Percy Jackson (not Harry Potter), My Chemical Romance (not Taylor Swift), and bubble tea. Working full-time and attending grad school affords little free time but when he’s got it, Jeff is relaxing with a book and a cigar.
