Lucas Starr, Master’s Level Intern

Lucas Starr (He/Him) is our SYTI Counseling Intern! He received his bachelor’s degree in psychology from Rowan University in 2018 and is currently in his second and final year of Rowan University’s Clinical Mental Health Counseling graduate program. Lucas has extensive experience as a case worker on a housing team in Trenton and Philadelphia for the homeless that experience mental health disorders. As a caseworker, Lucas has worked to help the homeless find permanent housing and develop independent living skills.
Lucas has extensive experience and education in helping children, teenagers, and adults with depression, anxiety, PTSD, substance abuse, and personality disorders. His approach to treatment involves building rapport with you to understand your needs, focusing on meeting you where you are at, providing a space where you can safely and comfortably express your thoughts and feelings, and collaborating with you as you decide your goals for treatment. He utilizes Gestalt, CBT, and Multicultural theories when working with clients. Lucas is available for both in-person and telehealth sessions.
Off the Job
When he isn’t at his internship, Lucas enjoys going to the movies, the gym, theme parks, and gardening. He also loves animals and is especially close with the STYI Counseling therapy dog, Noel. A goal of his is to become Noel’s favorite, but don’t tell Alyssa!
