Jennifer Barnes, Administrative Assistant

Jennifer will be joining See You Through It Counseling as an LAC in September of 2023. She currently serves as See You Through It Counseling’s Administrative Assistant.

Jennifer Barnes (she/her) is a Licensed Associate Counselor (LAC). She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from The Pennsylvania State University and her Master’s Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Rowan University. She started her work in the field as an intern at Alyssa Scolari’s (SYTI Counseling owner) private practice before SYTI Counseling was born! Jenn has experience providing counseling to children, adolescents, and adults of various backgrounds, ethnicities, and sexual orientations. She also has experience working on a crisis and suicide support hotline where she provided emotionally supportive interactions to de-escalate crisis calls for a diverse population of adolescents and adults.

Jenn’s provides treatment in the following areas:

Anxiety, depression, eating disorders, relationship difficulties, job stress, self-harm, trauma, ADHD, women’s issues, gender and sexuality issues, and grief.

She understands that these struggles can be debilitating, but if her experience has taught her anything, it is that through the therapeutic process, you can experience healing and relief. Jenn aspires to help her clients achieve a greater sense of peace in their everyday life.

Her main priority in session is to create a safe, healing atmosphere where clients feel comfortable to embark on their healing journey. Jenn aims to build a strong therapeutic alliance by being an ally and beacon of support for her clients. She uses client-centered, strength-based, and dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT) approaches to keep clients grounded in the present moment and empower them to make meaningful changes in their lives. She looks forward to helping you in therapy by utilizing her clinical training and expertise to improve your quality of life.

Jennifer is a Licensed Associate Counselor and is directly supervised by the SYTI Counseling owner, Alyssa Scolari, MA, LPC, ACS (NJ License Number 37PC00718700).

Off the Job

When she is not working, Jenn loves spending time painting to fuel her creative spirit. She is also a yogi, an avid book reader, and loves to make home-cooked meals. Jen loves spending time outside and enjoying the company of nature. She tries to find moments of stillness in each day to appreciate where she is on this journey of life.
